Purchasing Officer

Position Overview:

Purchasing Officer responsibilities include evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts and preparing reports (e.g. on orders and costs.) For this role, you should have good knowledge of market research, along with solid analytical skills to make sure you’re identifying the most profitable offers.


  • Purchase all the required material, and services from the local market according to the company process and procedures.
  • Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  •  Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  • Delivery of all products according to schedule and maintain quality standards of all products.
  • Collaborate with his department head and follow and develop all purchasing, reporting and filing system.
  • Enter order details (e.g. vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases
  • Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices
  • Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field
  • 2+ years of work experience in purchasing 
  • Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
  • Understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Negotiation skills
